Video Consumption across Multiple Platforms is a Global Phenomenon

US-based research company Nielsen recently completed a survey of more than 27,000 online consumers in 55 countries, asking simple questions about how they watch video.
The regular TV set is still the main way people are watching television, but other ways of watching video are now increasingly becoming popular. The research provides some insight into these developments. Globally, 90% of online consumers use their in-home television at least once per month. Read the Story »

European TV weathers recession storm

2009 was undoubtedly a difficult year for Europe’s TV industry, though not as bad as many would have us believe.

That, at least, appears to be one of the main findings of the European Audiovisual Observatory’s 2009 Yearbook, created for the DG Communication of the European Commission. It shows that despite the global economic crisis, more than 245 European – defined as EU 27 plus Croatia and Turkey – TV channels were launched last year, with the most popular genres being sport (38) and kids (17). Netherlands: First digital TV research results

The Dutch thematic digital TV channels researched by SKO in April reached an average of 15.7% of the total population aged 6 years and older. The total reach averaged 2,359,000 people a week over a four-week period, and the average reach amongst Dutch digital TV households was 29.3%. Read the Story »
