Los Angeles Cable Show displays market differences

Walking the show floor at the Los Angeles Convention Center and attending a few sessions at the NCTA (The Cable Show) made me realise there are still huge differences between the US and the European cable markets. With regards to television, the US market is arguably way ahead of Europe with widespread deployment of set-top boxes, PVRs, a mature premium TV market and more. In technical terms, HD now seems to have become the standard.
